Mission: To encourage and inspire restoration, economic vitality, the arts and community spirit in the historic downtown district.
Main Street of America: Dallas Downtown Association (DDA) was organized in October 2014 as a membership based, non-profit (501c3) organization. The DDA joined Main Street America Program and was able to participate in AmeriCorps Resource Assistance for Rural Environments. (RARE) Program. RARE was administered through the University of Oregon Institute for Policy Research and Engagement. Through this program the DDA was able to obtain a program manager for three years. The RARE grant was matched by the City of Dallas as was able to provide the Program Manager with a salary.
The program focused on four components: 1) production 2) strengthening the community 3) encouraging responsibility and 4) expanding opportunity.
These four groups lead to the Oregon Main Street core principles and development the four committees. 1) Economic Vitality 2) Promotion 3) Design 4) Organization. The DDA has now reached Level 2, a transforming Downtown, and continues to stride. This is only possible with the help of our outstanding leadership and dedicated volunteers. A HUGE THANK YOU to all members, volunteers, and leaders.
